01Context
A media platform with a movement in its readership
Ecohustler has spent twelve years publishing for people who want to live differently, and has an audience that reads to the end and then asks “so what do I do?”. Advertising is a poor way to fund that kind of journalism and a worse way to answer that question.
The frontier report tracked two things arriving together: models that can read a decade of editorial and turn it into structured, personal guidance, and a generation of readers willing to pay for community rather than content. The Rebel Alliance was the concept.

02What we built
The Rebel Alliance, on Rebel HQ
A membership platform for people who care about the environment. At its centre, more than 1,200 eco nudges distilled from twelve years of editorial: one a day by default, at your own pace if you'd rather, each a concrete thing to do with the reasoning behind it.
Beneath the nudges, the deeper material: how-tos, guides and a database of green companies to switch to. Around them, the community: groups, challenges, local action and comments, so a nudge becomes something you do with other people. Rebel HQ is the member home that holds it together.
03How
Models read the archive. Editors keep the last word.
Multi-model pipelines read twelve years of articles and extracted the actions in them: what to do, why, how hard, what it saves. Ecohustler's editors reviewed, rewrote and sequenced the results into the nudge library, so the voice is theirs and the facts are checked.
Pacing, progress and the community layer are deterministic. Models are used where they earn it: in extraction, in matching a member to the right next nudge, and in keeping the green-company database current. Rebel HQ runs on Edge alongside ecohustler.com, on infrastructure up to 50% greener than centralised cloud, which for this client is a feature rather than a footnote.

04What changed
From readers to members
Eight months in, the Rebel Alliance is in beta with more than 2,000 people on the waitlist before a public launch, and readers have somewhere to act together. The build is ongoing: beta cohorts are shaping what ships next.
Before
Twelve years of archive sitting in a CMS, and journalism funded by advertising.
Now
2,000+on the waitlistAn archive working every day, and a second business model that doesn't depend on advertising.
05What's next
Open the doors, then measure the difference
Public launch off the back of the waitlist, then the part that matters:
- 01Showing members what their nudges add up to, individually and as an Alliance
- 02Local action groups that can be found from a postcode
Run by Edge Expert Services as it scales. Extended by Labs, who remain on the build.
In their words
Ecohustler on the work
